NikeLab And Stone Island Collaborate On Third Nike Windrunner
For the past two seasons, NikeLab and Stone Island have collaborated to reimagine the Nike Windrunner. The primary, for Holiday 2015, mixed Stone Island’s Nylon Metal fabric on the body with water and wind-resistant Mussola Gommata fabric stone island micro reps down jacket navy on the chevron and hood. The second, for Fall 2016, mixed two water and wind-resistant nylons while mimicking traditional Nike Windrunner colorblocking. Both drew from Nike and Stone Island’s histories of innovating in sport and materials design.
For the third installment of the collaboration, the design teams continued to prioritize comfort, weather safety and mobility. Made from a customized, dip-dyed rip-stop nylon fabric in three saturated mineral color options (khaki, olive and obsidian), the jacket has water-resistant coating on the outer fabric, inside wool fleece lining and a detachable, fleece-lined hood. Oversized, shearling-lined stone island micro reps down jacket navy zip pockets protect valuables, in addition to a storm flap that snaps over the entrance zip for added wind protection. Further new features embody a hidden coin sleeve pocket, a removable Stone Island badge and a customized-built zipper with TPU print for grip.
