For the previous two seasons, NikeLab and Stone Island have collaborated to reimagine the Nike Windrunner. The primary, for Vacation 2015, mixed Stone Island’s Nylon Metallic fabric on the physique with water and wind-resistant Mussola Gommata fabric on the chevron Stone Island Polo-Shirts and hood. The second, for Fall 2016, combined two water and wind-resistant nylons while mimicking conventional Nike Windrunner colorblocking. Each drew from Nike and Stone Island’s histories of innovating in sport and material design.
For the third installment of the collaboration, the design groups continued to prioritize comfort, weather safety and mobility. Made from a customized, dip-dyed rip-cease nylon fabric in three saturated mineral coloration options (khaki, olive and obsidian), the jacket has water-resistant coating on the outer fabric, interior wool fleece lining and a detachable, fleece-lined hood. Oversized, shearling-lined zip pockets protect valuables, along with a storm flap that snaps over the entrance zip for added wind protection. Additional new options include a hidden coin sleeve pocket, a removable Stone Island badge and a customized-constructed zipper with TPU print for grip.
